An apparatus and a method for encoding/decoding signal are provided to improve the sound quality of the audio signal by adding 3D effect to a multi channel audio signal. A method for encoding/decoding signal comprises following steps. A downmix signal and a downmix identification information are received. 3D downmix signal is produced by performing 3D rendering to the downmixed signal. If the downmixed signal is a signal which is performed 3D rendering, the 3D effect is eliminated by performing 3D rendering to the downmixed signal.
