PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rocking chair permitting easy assembly of a backrest and easy working of members without impairing the excellent appearance. SOLUTION: The backrest 4 has a backrest frame 19 and a backrest inner shell 20, and a cushion is stretched over the backrest inner shell 20. The backrest frame 19 is rectangular as seen from the front, and a tilting frame 27 is welded to a lower member 54. The tilting frame 27 is connected to a base tiltably in backward. The backrest inner shell 20 has engagement pawls 64 and 65 on the back face, and engagement holes 59 and 60 are bored in the backrest frame 19. The backrest inner shell 20 is restrained by the backrest frame 10 in the left and right sides, so that the backrest inner shell can be dented backward with the body pressure of a seated person. As the backrest frame 19 and the tilting frame 27 are separately manufactured, both the frames can be easily worked.
