PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing human ceramide in yeast cells.

SOLUTION: This method for producing the human ceramide includes (1) transforming yeast cells for introducing sphingoidΔ4-desaturase gene (DES1); (2) transforming yeast cells for deleting the expression of yeast sphinganine C4-hydroxylase gene (SUR2); and (3) transforming a yeast cell for deleting the expression of yeast sphingoid base phosphorylation enzyme gene (LCB4).
