<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light shielding member which is suppressed in the generation of stray light, to provide a line head which is suppressed in the generation of a ghost using the member, and to provide an image forming apparatus reduced in the deterioration of image quality using the head. <P>SOLUTION: A recess 4420 is formed at an opening 4411 of a light guide hole 4410. The light guide hole 4410 is not present in the recess 4420. Part of light entering the light guide hole 4410 is reflected at the internal surface 4413 of the light guide hole 4410 of the light shielding member 440 and passes the light guide hole 4410. On the other hand, no internal surface 4413 of the light guide hole 4410 is present in a place where the recess 4420 is formed, and consequently reflection by the internal surface 4413 is avoided.
