The heat energy which is normally discarded in every household with the hot water from baths, washing up etc. is recovered by a fan installed in the already existing vent pipe on every drainage system. Air is admitted downstream in the drain pipe and entrained by the fan past a heat exchanger where the heat is extracted and used to heat fresh water. The drainage system (4) of a private residence (2) is equipped before the cleaning pit (3) or the connection to the main sewer with an air inlet (1). A fan (5) installed in the vent pipe can thus entrain air in counterflow to the discarded water. This warm air flow heats up fresh water in the heat exchanger (6), for a warm water system or space heating. The best thermal efficiency is achieved if the heat exchanger (6) is the evaporator of a heat pump.
|
