PURPOSE:To continuously cast a cast billet having few surface flaws, by making a hole on the part which is hard to cool, and fitting an immersion cooler, in a horizontal and continuous casting mold to which a deformed section casting mold and a tandish. CONSTITUTION:In case when a cast billet 1 having a deformed section is cast continuously, a hole 3 is made on a projecting thick part 2' of a casting mold 2, and an immersion cooler 5 conforming to this hole 3 is fitted. For instance, the cooler 5 is formed by a double pipe structure consisting of an outside cylindrical pipe 5a and an inside cylindrical pipe 5b, cooling water is supplied from the pipe 5b, and is discharged from the pipe 5a. Also, the cooling effect is quickened by cutting a female screw 7 and a male screw 7' in the start end side and the outside surface, respectively, screwing and pushing in, and making the cooler put tightly together at the casting mold 2. In this way, a cast billet having few defects, especially, few surface flaws in cast by cooling the casting mold 2 uniformly and preventing a delay of solidification. |
