PURPOSE:To obtain a water base ink recording sheet having excellent ink absorptivity and ensuring little spreading of recorded dots and high density of recorded dots, by applying a coating material comprising a partial neutralizate of a specified polymer and a hydrophilic resin to a base, followed by heating. CONSTITUTION:Either an acrylic acid polymer consisting of polyacrylic acid or polymethacrylic acid or a maleic anhydride copolymer comprising alpha-olefin or vinyl compound and maleic anhydride is partially neutralized by sodium hydroxide, potassium hydroxide or the like to a neutralization degree of 20-70%. The mixing ratio of a hydrophilic resin such as polyvinyl alcohol and polyvinyl acetal added to the partial neutralizate depends on the kind of the neutralizate, but is preferably 30/70-80/20. A solution prepared by mixing the partial neutralizate of the polymer and the resin followed by agitation is applied to an appropriate base in an amount of about 5-20g/m<2>, and the coated film is heated by a heating means to effect crosslinking to provide a transparent ink-receiving layer on the base. |
