PURPOSE:To obtain the titled vertical magnetic recording medium without noise by interposing an amorphous high-permeability soft magnetic film between a vertically magnetized film having and consisting essentially of CoCr and a crystalline high-permeability soft magnetic film having an axis easy for mag netization in the film plane and consisting essentially of FeNi when the compos ite magnetic recording medium is formed with the films. CONSTITUTION:An FeNi 'Permalloy(R)' film 12 which is an ordinary high- permeability soft magnetic film consisting, by weight, of 13-14% Fe, 77% Ni, 4-5% Cu and 4-5% Mo is coated in about 0.4mum thickness on a polyimide film 11 as a substrate having about 25mum thickness. Then a CoZrMo film 10 which is an amorphous high-permeability soft magnetic film consisting of 80% Co, 10% Zr and 10% Mo is further furnished in about 0.1mum thickness on the film 12. A CoCr vertically magnetized film 13 consisting of 82.5% Co and 17.5% Cr and having an axis easy for magnetization vertical to the film plane is deposited in about 0.2mum thickness on the film 10.
