PURPOSE:To provide a discharge lamp lighting device, which can efficiently absorb the over-voltage generated between a switching element and a secondary rectifying element and which can be downsized to save a space even in the case where a large quantity of power is supplied to a discharge lamp and the switching speed of the switching element is high. CONSTITUTION:A discharge lamp lighting device, which includes switching elements M1, M2 and secondary rectifying elements M3, M4, controls the power to be supplied to a discharge lamp by switching the switching elements. A first over-voltage absorbing circuit 21 having a resistance, which has the excellent frequency characteristic, and a second over-voltage absorbing circuit 22 having a resistance, which has the excellent power characteristic, are connected in parallel with the switching elements M1, M2 and the secondary rectifying elements M3, M4. |
