PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a biaxially oriented polyester film having dimensional stability, particularly the dimensional stability against the environmental variation such as temperature and humidity and the dimensional stability at the time of processing, in a high degree. SOLUTION: The biaxially oriented polyester film comprises an aromatic polyester between an aromatic dicarboxylic acid component and a gylcol component. The amount of≥5 mol% and <50 mol% of the aromatic dicarboxylic acid component is 6,6'-(alkylene dioxy) di-2-naphthoic acid component, the aromatic polyester has a melting point in the range of 200-260°C, and at least one direction in the film planar direction has a Young's modulus of≥6.0 GPa and a heat shrinkage ratio of≤1.5% when treated at 105°C for 30 minutes.
