<p>The method involves determining a deceleration distance of a vehicle (1). Initial speed (V0) of the vehicle is determined at starting point (S0) of the deceleration distance. A target end speed of the vehicle is determined at end point (S1) of the distance. A speed function is determined, where the function describes a speed of the vehicle from the initial speed to the target-end speed over the distance in such a manner that a deceleration time becomes maximum, where the time is required for deceleration of the vehicle from the initial speed to the target end speed using the speed function. An independent claim is also included for a deceleration system for a vehicle.</p> |
