PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a combustion cooker capable of improving accuracy and safety of cooking and ensuring safety with high reliability and long life without causing a pan detection failure or wrong operation even in case of boiling-over by detecting the placing state of a pan on a burner and controlling the combustion state to an optimum state. SOLUTION: This cooker comprises a pan detecting means 31 including an electric coil 30 and a rod 22 arranged substantially in the center thereof, the rod being pressed by the pan bottom when the pan 13 is placed on the burner 14, in which the presence of the pan 13 is detected based on electric change of the electric coil 30; and a gas flow adjusting part 28 controlling the combustion of the burner 14 based on this detection. According to this, the pan can be detected with resistance to boiling-over and high reliability/long life to improve the accuracy and safety of cooking. COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
