PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a toroidal continuously variable transmission for suppressing torque shift, by preventing inclination of a power roller. SOLUTION: The toroidal continuously variable transmission has a linear motion bearing 218A, a first positioning and holding means 254, and a second positioning and holding means 250, which are disposed between a trunnion 15 and an outer ring 28. The linear motion bearing 218A supports the outer ring 28 to be movable in a direction orthogonal to an axis O', the first positioning and holding means 254 positions and holds the linear bearing 218A with respect to the trunnion 15, and the second positioning and holding means 250 positions and holds the outer ring 28 with respect to the linear motion bearing 218A.
