<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a blade changing apparatus and a microtome capable of remarkably reducing a risk of injury to an operator and easily operating as much as possible with high reliability at a blade changing process. <P>SOLUTION: This relates to a microtome blade changing apparatus for a knife holder 1 of a microtome. The blade changing apparatus has a blade dispenser 4 and a blade reservoir 5. In the blade dispenser 4, a plurality of blades are stored. The blade reservoir 5 receives used blades. The blade dispenser 4 and the blade reservoir 5 are arranged adjacent to the knife holder 1 respectively. This invented microtome is, furthermore, provided with a blade changing apparatus. Namely, an entraining element 13 manually actuable by an operator, is provided therein. By the entraining element 13, one blade can be transferred from the blade dispenser 4 to the knife holder 1.
