EXTRACT OF ASTER KORAIENSIS, AND PHARMACEUTICAL COMPOSITIONS AND FUNCTIONAL FOOD COMPRISING SAME

An extract of leaves and stems of Aster koraiensis, an extract of roots of the Aster koraiensis and an extract of flowers of the Aster koraiensis are provided to inhibit generation of AGEs(Advanced glycation end products:AGEs), one of main cause of diabetic complications, and inhibit the activity of aldose reductase(AR) effectively, thereby being used as a pharmaceutical composition or a health functional food for preventing and treating the diabetic complications and anti-aging. A pharmaceutical composition or a health functional food for preventing or treating diabetic complications or anti-aging comprises at least one selected from the group consisting of: an extract of leaves and stems or roots or flowers of Aster koraiensis; an ethyl acetate fraction or a normal butanol fraction or a water fraction of the extract of leaves and stems, an ethyl acetate fraction or a normal butanol fraction of the extract of roots; and an ethylacetate fraction or a normal butanol fraction of the extract of flowers as an effective ingredient.
