An environmental adaptation type head up display apparatus and display method thereof is provided to control a chrominance value and luminance value automatically according to the change of the color of the front landscape. In an environmental adaptation type head up display apparatus, a camera sensor(101) obtains an image of the landscape which is front of the vehicles. An image abstraction unit(102) extracts the image of the section which becomes a background of the head-up on display. A color and chrominance extracting unit(103) extracts the image of the section which becomes a background of the head-up on display. A luminance comparison unit(104) compares the difference between the chrominance value and the luminance value stored in the detection unit and the chrominance value and the luminance value of diction unit.
