<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a projection type display device such as a projector capable of refining the visual characteristics that in the case of cinema content having an input video signal containing more a black component, as a screen size projected on a screen becomes larger, the content is felt bright owing to its area effect, causing a relatively lower contrast than a smaller area. <P>SOLUTION: In a resize cinema signal detection circuit 40 cinema content is determined by differentially detecting an output of an A/D converter 30. a horizontal/vertical synchronizing signal selected by an input selector 26 is input, and even when the vertical synchronizing signal is 24 Hz±1 Hz, the input video signal is determined to be the cinema content, and further a brightness level on a screen surface is controlled by a projected screen size defined in an on-screen menu. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
