PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a multistage centrifugal compressor improving efficiency of the compressor without lowering critical speed of a rotary shaft system. SOLUTION: The multistage centrifugal compressor 50 comprises a rotary shaft 1, centrifugal impellers 5b attached to the rotary shaft 1 at multistages, each of which is composed of a hub 4b, a shroud 3b and blades 2b arranged therebetween in a circular cascade shape, an annular suction passage 6b provided upstream of the centrifugal impeller 5b and guiding a fluid flow from a radially inward direction to a blade inlet portion 14, a diffuser 9b provided downstream of the centrifugal impeller 5b, and a return channel 13b composed of a bend portion 10b provided downstream of the diffuser 9b and a guide blade portion 11b provided downstream of the bend portion 10b.
