<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a noise elimination device and a noise elimination method for reducing degradation in the image quality of a video signal (video signal subject to telecine conversion) of film material. <P>SOLUTION: The noise elimination device comprises: a video image source determination means (51) for determining whether or not the video signal is a film material; first characteristic determination means (45, 53) for determining a noise elimination characteristic of a two-dimensional noise elimination means (10); and a second characteristic determination means (47) for determining the noise elimination characteristic of a three-dimensional noise elimination means (30). When the video signal is the film material, the first characteristic determination means (45, 53) set the coding noise detection sensitivity of the two-dimensional noise elimination means to a value higher than that when the video signal is not the film material. When the video signal is the film material, the second characteristic determination means (47) sets the motion detection sensitivity of the three-dimensional noise elimination means to a value higher than that when the video signal is not the film material. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT</p> |
