PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a backlight unit for a liquid crystal display panel which can solve the problem that when the backlight unit for the liquid crystal display panel wherein a plurality of optical sheets are stacked to be held in a planar shape and, when one side and the other side thereof are defined as a light incident side and a light emission side, a plurality of linear light sources are arranged in parallel on the light incident side and which supplies light from the plurality of liner light sources to the liquid crystal display panel via the plurality of optical sheets is used for a conventional liquid crystal display, difference of hygroscopic degrees (or difference of dry degree)between the rear and the front of the optical sheet on the side the nearest to the light sources is generated upon lighting of the light sources, a center part of the optical sheet is made concave on the light source side and convex on the liquid crystal display panel side and the liquid crystal display panel is pushed according to circumstances and a displayed image may be affected.

SOLUTION: A sheet having the highest rigidity of the plurality of optical sheets is constituted by laminating two or more kinds of resin layers via an adhesive layer as an intermediate layer.
