METHOD OF WET-DETOXIFYING CONTAMINATED SOIL

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of inexpensively and easily detoxifying contaminants such as heavy metals and organic chlorine compounds in the soil without adversely affecting the environment. SOLUTION: The method of wet-detoxifying the contaminated soil containing the heavy metals and the organic chlorine compounds comprises: an elution step for mixing at least an aqueous solution containing hydrogen peroxide and an acid with the contaminated soil to elute ions of the heavy metals in the mixed solution; a first degradation step by adding an alkaline compound into the aqueous solution containing the organic chlorine compounds; and a second degradation step for mixing the organic chlorine compounds and a photosensitizer and irradiating the organic chlorine compounds with ultraviolet light rays to decompose the organic chlorine compounds.
