PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thermal barrier member which, when being used, e.g., in the temperature range of≥900°C, is inhibited from causing cracking and peeling in its barrier layer and has excellent heat resistance (heat cycle durability), and to provide a method for producing the same. SOLUTION: The thermal barrier member 1 is equipped with: an alloy base material 11; an oxidation resistant layer 12 arranged at the surface of the alloy base material 11 and suppressing the oxidation of the alloy base material 11; and a thermal barrier layer 13 composed of a ceramic columnar body with a periodic C type structure and arranged at the surface of the oxidation resistant layer 12, wherein the axial periodic interval of the C type structure is≤1μm.
