PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a heat-shrinkable polyester film which is very good in perforated line unsealability and also very high in productivity. SOLUTION: The heat-shrinkable polyester film is such that, its main shrinkage direction conforms to the longitudinal direction, and the following properties are adjusted so as to fall within the respective ranges: the hot water heat shrinkage in the cross direction when treated in 90°C hot water for 10 seconds; the hot water heat shrinkage in the longitudinal direction when treated in 90°C hot water for 10 seconds; the right-angled tear strength in the longitudinal direction after 10% shrunk in the cross direction in 80°C hot water; the Elmendorf ratio when measured Elmendorf tear load after the 10% shrinkage in the cross direction in 80°C hot water; and the tensile breaking strength in the longitudinal direction.
