PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a stator, specifically a spirally wound stator, which can mechanically perform work for inserting a wound coil into the slots of a stator core. SOLUTION: In the stator wherein one sides Ca of a plurality of coils C wound in advance are inserted into the slots 12 of a stator core 10 and the other sides Cb of the coils C are inserted into the other slots 12 respectively, to make each coil spirally overlapped when seen from the end surface of the stator core 10, the insertion work is repeated more than twice to allow the loop of coils spirally overlapped to be laminated two layers or more in the radial direction, with the total of the section area of the coils inserted into the slots of the stator core is larger than a prescribed value based on the inner radius of the stator core.
