PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polyester polymerization catalyst excellent in catalytic activity and giving polyester excellent in color formation and thermal stability and excellent transparency of a molded article, a polyester manufactured by using this and a manufacturing method for the polyester. SOLUTION: The polyester polymerization catalyst uses a basic aluminum acetate in which at least an anion radical of a basic aqueous aluminum salt solution is ion-exchanged by an acetic ion of an acetic acid type anion exchange resin, and at least one kind selected from the group consisting of a phosphonic based compound, a phsphinic acid based compound, a phosphineoxide based compound, a phosphonic acid based compound, a phosphinic acid based compound and a phosphine based compound preferably as a phosphorous compound.
