Diclosed is a method for reducing boar taint in pigs, said method compris ing injecting a solution of a pharmaceutically acceptable zinc salt into a d orsal cranial portion of each testis of a male pig preferably when the pig i s less than one week old. The solution contains at least 20 mg of zinc ion p er ml of solution and the solution is injected into the testis in a volume t hat is contained within the testis.
