The device (1) is used for filling magazines (15) with plastic materials, for example with amalgam, for the filling of dental cavities. It consists essentially of a base element (2) which has a funnel (9) to be charged with amalgam and a hollow space (10) whose inner cross-section is at most equal to the inner cross-section (15') of the magazine (15) to be filled. Guided in the hollow space (10) with precise fitting is a thrust shaft (3), which has to be activated via the slide (4). In this way, the filling material arriving from the stopper (8) to the position (14) where the funnel (9) enters into the hollow space (10) is pushed into the inner space (15') of the magazine (15) arranged flush with this hollow space (10), and the whole magazine (15) is thus filled by multiple activation of the slide (4). With the aid of a such a device, it is possible to ensure a rapid and complete filling of detachable magazines of any constant inner cross-section with amalgam or any other appropriate filling material produced beforehand, for example in a conventional amalgam oscillator.
