THERMOPLASTIC POLYSACCHARIDE GEL AND METHOD FOR PRODUCING THE SAME AND METHOD FOR PRODUCING POLYSACCHARIDE-FORMING MATERIAL

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a thermoplastic polysaccharide gel capable of readily molding and processing a natural polysaccharide such as cellulose or chitin, by finding a method for utilization of the natural polysaccharide as a new material. SOLUTION: The method for producing the thermoplastic polysaccharide gel comprises: a step of mixing a natural polysaccharide with an ion liquid represented by chemical formula (wherein R1is a 1-4C alkyl group; R2is a 1-4C alkyl group or allyl group; and X-is an anion), heating the mixture and dissolving the natural polysaccharide into the ion liquid; a step of turning a polysaccharide solution prepared in the above step into a gel product by allowing the polysaccharide solution to stand at room temperature; and a step of washing and drying the gel product obtained in the above step.
