PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide step structure for a vehicle capable of eliminating a malfunction likely to occur in a machanism failure. SOLUTION: A pre-load is applied to a flap 52 supported on a main step 51 of a step body 21 to turn in the direction for making the flap 52 adhere closely to a side sill 11 constituting a vehicle body by a torsion bar 111. For this reason, the flap 52 is turned into the direction for making it adhere closely to the side sill 11 by the pre-load from the torsion bar 111 and can stand up when a mechanism part for driving the flap 52 causes a failure. Consequently, it is possible to prevent the flap 52 from protruding to a vehicle side OTR unexpectedly when compared with a conventional case that the flap falls down due to its self weight when the mechanism part causes the failure.
