<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accurately and stably read a bar code by performing illumination of optimum illuminance corresponding to a distance between a sensor and the bar code. <P>SOLUTION: An ultrasonic sensor 4 detects a distance D between the sensor 4 and the bar code 6 on paper sheet 7 attached to merchandise 5, and an illuminating part 2 emit illuminating light that has been increased/decreased to the amount of a luminous flux by an illumination control part 12, the amount being proportional to the square of a photographing distance H between an image sensor 3 and the bar code 6, and illuminates the bar code 6 on the merchandise 5. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
