PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent lowering of detection accuracy of a relative distance and a relative speed of a target due to switching noise generated by antenna switching, in a phase monopulse radar system. SOLUTION: In the radar system which successively changes combinations of two antennas for receiving reflected signals of a radar signal in each time interval comprising an increasing section and a decreasing section of frequency, estimates the angular direction of the target on the basis of the phase difference of reception between the reflected signals received with two antennas for each of a plurality of combinations, adopts a detection result of an angular direction from the estimation result for each combination, and detects the relative distance and the relative speed with respect to the target on the basis of the frequency difference between the radar signal and its reflected signal, the relative speed and the relative distance are detected, by using not the frequency difference in the top increasing/decreasing sections of the time interval but the frequency difference in an increasing section and a decreasing section following them. Accordingly, the relative speed and relative distance can be detected on the basis of signals not being affected by the switching noise caused by the antenna switching. COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT
