PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an air valve for exhausting air mixed into a water pipe, actualizing easy maintenance while allowing easy discharge of foreign matter accumulated in an exhaust port and check of valve operation from the outside. SOLUTION: A hollow cylindrical shaft 36 is provided in a vertical pipe 102 of the water pipe integrally with a float 56. The upper end of the shaft 36 extends to the outside of a device. The operation of a valve element portion 50 provided at the lower part of the shaft 36 can be checked from the outside.
