<p>The invention relates to a process for making iron-based sintered pieces with hardened surface layer. According to the invention, the process provides for sintering a powder mixture consisting of 95% iron, 0.6% phosphorus and for the remainder, up to 100%, other alloy elements (Cu, Ni, Mo and C), homogenized and pressed in a mould, at a temperature of 1120A C, the sinterization being followed by heating at a temperature of 650A C, in a furnace, in an atmosphere of water vapour overheated to 110 - 120A C and at a pressure of 0.6 barr, while maintaining it inside the furnace for 30 min.</p> |
