<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging unit for forming a good panoramic image without switching two modes during panorama photography. <P>SOLUTION: The imaging unit has a normal mode for imaging an object by making imaging light from the object incident on an imaging device through an infrared cut filter and a night-vision mode for imaging the object by making imaging light from the object incident on the imaging device without through the infrared cut filter. The imaging unit includes a panoramic image photographing means for forming a plurality of images imaged by an imaging means for forming panoramic images, and an imaging mode switching time set means for setting the time to switch between the normal mode and the above night-vision mode. Also, the imaging unit includes an imaging mode switching means for switching between the normal mode and the night-vision mode when it reaches the time set by the imaging mode switching time set means. The imaging mode switching means controls mode switching according to the operating condition of the panoramic image photographing means.
