PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a manufacturing method of an organic electroluminescent element capable of making a display of a good uniformity with light-emitting unevenness and luminance deterioration done away with, through restraint of film thickening of a hole transport layer at an edge part where an insulation layer and a pixel electrode contact each other, and to provide an organic electroluminescent element manufactured by above method. SOLUTION: The manufacturing method of the organic electroluminescent element consisting of pixel electrodes 2, insulation layers 3 zoning light-emitting areas on the pixel electrodes 2, organic light-emitting medium layers laminated on the light-emitting areas and containing at least two layers of hole transport layers 4 and organic light-emitting layers 5, and counter electrodes 6, is provided with a process of forming in the light-emitting areas the hole transport layer 4 by printing hole transport ink with a hole transport material dissolved or dispersed in a solvent on the pixel electrodes 2 between the insulation layers 3 from a convex part of a letterpress by the letterpress printing.
