SYNCHRONOUS CLAW TYPE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION

A synchronous claw type automatic transmission is provided to improve operation reliability of the automatic transmission by confining a shift leg using a leg locking unit at all speeds except for a target speed. Plural shift forks are used to shift between various speeds. Plural shift legs(65a-65d) are arranged on the respective shift forks in a column formation. Shift fingers(70a-70c) are coupled with one of the shift legs and place the shift fork at a shift position. A select shaft(69) selectively couples the shift finger with one of the shift legs. Leg locking units(88a-88c) are coupled with the shift leg separately from the shift finger and confine the shift fork on a neutral position. A shift selecting unit(67) couples the shift finger with the shift leg on the shift fork corresponding to a target speed and places the corresponding shift fork to a shift direction. An interlock unit moves the leg locking unit along a motion of the shift finger in the select direction and couples the leg locking unit with the shift leg corresponding to other speeds, such that the shift fork is confined at the neutral position.
