Product for whitening teeth comprises 0.01-20 wt.% of a piperidone compound (I) and 0.3-30 wt.% of a bleaching agent (II), namely hydrogen peroxide, an adduct of hydrogen peroxide and a solid support, urea peroxide or a peroxy compound. An independent claim is also included for the use of (I) in oral and dental care and cleansing products, especially as a dental whitening agent, an antibacterial agent, an anticaries agent, for treating gingivitis or periodontitis and/or for treating halitosis.
