An engaging assembly 10 for a floor covering, the engaging assembly 10 comprising a first engaging member 12 for engaging a floor, and a second engaging member 14 for engaging a floor covering. The first engaging member 12 comprises a first securing formation 16, and the second engaging member 14 comprises a second securing formation 18. The first and second securing formations 16,18 are co-operable with each other to allow the first engaging member 12 to be connected to the second engaging member 14. The first and second securing formations 16,18 may directly engage one another (fig. 1A-1C) or at least one connecting element 40 may be provided to allow the assembly 10 to adjust in height and engage flooring of different heights. The engaging members 12,14 may be elongate. The first engaging member 12 may have a transversely extending foot member 30 and weakness lines 39 to allow end portions to be removed; the second engaging member 14 may include a cover portions 32 with transverse strengthening ribs (60,fig.5). |
