PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device capable of efficiently inducing a splay-bend transition. SOLUTION: A plurality of minute structural bodies 31 are formed on a TFT substrate 3. The minute structural body 31 includes a side (a) along a rubbing direction X in which rubbing treatment is performed first and a side (b) along a rubbing direction Y in which rubbing treatment is performed second and an angleθ1 formed by the rubbing directions X and Y is specified to be an angle (a vertex angle)θ2 formed between the sides (a) and (b). Two minute regions having twisted structures having twisted arrangements of liquid crystal molecules different from each other when voltage is applied can be formed by performing rubbing treatment using the minute structural bodies 31.
