The invention provides compositions and methods for determining the likel ihood of successful treatment with a pyrimidine based antimetabolite chemoth erapy drug and a platinum based chemotherapy drug, such as 5-FU/oxaliplatin. The methods comprise determining the genomic polymorphism present in a pred etermined region of a gene of interest and correlating the polymorphism to t he predictive response. Patients identified as responsive are then treated w ith the appropriate therapy.
