An impeller for a gas compressor, which has excellent durability even if it is used to compress gas containing solid particles and which is obtainable without an increase in cost. The impeller (3) is provided in a gas compressor for compressing gas containing solid particles and has a hub (10) and blades (12) that are substantially radially upstanding from the outer circumferential surface of the hub (10). The gas is compressed by rotating the hub (10) and the blades (12) about the center axis. Each blade (12) has an abrasion resistant coating (20) provided only on a gas inlet portion.
