Described is 2-methyl-1-(2-methylpropyl)-1H-imidazo[4,5- c][1,5]naphthyridin-4-amine or a pharmaceutically acceptable salts thereof, which induce the biosynthesis of cytokines, as being interferon and tumor necrosis factor. The compounds exhibit antiviral and antitumor properties. Described are also methods of preparing the compounds and their use in the treatment of viral infection and neoplastic diseases in an animal.
