PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fixing device and an image forming apparatus which can suppress an image fault caused by heat of a pressure member being in contact with a recording medium. SOLUTION: A cooling mechanism 80 is disposed in contact with a pressure roll 62 of the fixing device 60. The cooling mechanism 80 includes a heat absorbing part 81 disposed in contact with the peripheral face of the pressure roll 62, and a heat dissipating device. In the heat absorbing part 81, a heat transfer belt 81B is rotatably disposed around a heat absorption pad 81P in which a coolant passage 81Pe is formed. The heat dissipating device cools the pressure roll 62, via the heat transfer belt 81B, by means of coolant circulating between the coolant passage 81Pe and a heat exchanger.
