PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electronic camera capable of performing tilt adjustment in any direction, and a method for controlling the electronic camera. SOLUTION: A CCD 6 is supported by a piezoelectric device 7 in a manner that allows a light receiving surface of the CCD 6 to be freely tilted. The user moves a back end surface 4 of a bellows 3. The movement of the back end surface is detected by a displacement sensor 5 to detect a tilt angle and a tilt direction. The piezoelectric device 7 is controlled based on the detected tilt angle and the tilt direction. The light receiving surface of the CCD 6 is tilted so as to perform tilt adjustments.
