A method and an apparatus for changing the channel in a data broadcasting receiver are provided to connect data broadcasting to a previously recorded data broadcasting channel signal when returning to the data broadcasting with channel change. When the channel is changed during reception of a data broadcasting signal, a recording location of a data broadcasting program is stored in association with data broadcasting channel information. When data broadcasting prior to channel change is returned, a previously recorded data broadcasting program is reproduced(S34). The data broadcasting signal is temporarily stored. If a part of the temporarily stored data broadcasting signal is identical to a part of the previously recorded data broadcasting program, recording of the data broadcasting program is restarted from the time when the part of the temporarily stored data broadcasting program is identical to the previously recorded data broadcasting program.
