An indexing apparatus is provided to improve indexing precision by maintaining a bearing gap above a predetermined level during rotation of an indexing table. An indexing apparatus comprises an indexing table(11) having a table body, a base(10), a bearing gap sensor(25), a pressure flux adjusting member(18), a bearing gap controlling member and an indexing table control member. The base includes a servomotor(12) and a fluid bearing. The bearing gap sensor detects a size of a bearing gap in the fluid bearing, which supports radial load and thrust load of the indexing table. The pressure flux adjusting member adjusts pressure and flow rate of fluid. The bearing gap controlling member operates the pressure and flow rate adjusting member such that the bearing gap is maintained above a preset level. The indexing table controlling member controls the servomotor and indexes a rotation angle of the indexing table.
