A method for preparing red nanophosphor powder for display is provided to obtain red nanophosphor powder having a uniform particle size and composition and fluorescent characteristics through a simple low-temperature process. A method for preparing red nanophosphor powder for display comprises the steps of: impregnating a polymer material having a fine crystal with a size of 10-300 angstroms with an aqueous metal salt solution of Y, Gd, B and at least one selected from Eu, Ce, Pr, Sm and Mn; drying the polymer material impregnated with the aqueous metal salt solution and heat treating the polymer material at 600 deg.C or higher; and pulverizing the heat treated polymer material to obtain red nanophosphor powder represented by the formula of (YxGdy)2BzO3:A (wherein A is at least one of Eu, Ce, Pr, Sm and Mn, x is 0-1, y is 0-1, z is 0-1 and A is larger than 0 and less than 1), wherein the polymer material is at least one matrix selected from amorphous or crystalline cellulose, wood, pulp, acetate, rayon and cellophane.
