An audio apparatus and a method for controlling volume thereof are provided to prevent abrupt variation of the volume by adjusting amplification gain based on maximum and minimum levels of sound source. An audio apparatus includes a level detecting unit(120), a volume IC(Integrated Circuit)(110), a gain variable amplifier(140), and a micom(130). The level detecting unit detects the level of sound source. The volume IC receives the sound source. The gain variable amplifier amplifies the gain of output signals of the volume IC by adjusting. The micom adjusts the amplification gain of the gain variable amplifier corresponding to the output signals of the level detecting unit and adjusts volume by controlling the volume IC. |
