<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent an unnatural image from being output in reading the image to the end and outputting the read image. <P>SOLUTION: An image processing unit applies predetermined processing to image data inputted from a pre-stage and outputs the image to the post-stage. The unit is provided with an interpolation operation means 26l for executing interpolation operation while using the inputted image data for ends also as the image data of edge pixels in interpolation operation, for image data insufficient for interpolating the end of one line of the inputted image data.
