METHOD OF PROVIDING THREE-DIMENSIONAL VIDEO SERVICE IN DIGITAL MULTIMEDIA BROADCASTING SYSTEM

A method for providing a 3D video service in a digital multimedia broadcast system is provided to define signaling information with respect to a 3D video service and insert the same to a corresponding interval to thus provide 3D video service via an existing terrestrial DMB. A DAB(Digital Audio Broadcasting) audio service unit(101), a DAB data service unit(102), a 2D DMB video service unit(103), and a 3D DMB video service unit(104) encode a DAB audio source, a DAB data source, a 2D DMB video source, and a 3D DMB video source according to DMB standards, and transfer them to an ensemble multiplexer(110). The ensemble multiplexer multiplexes the encoded DAB audio, the DAB data, the 2D DMB video and the 3D DMB video sources to generate ensemble frames. A COFDM(Coded Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing) encoder(120) modulates the ensemble frames received from the ensemble multiplexer according to a COFDM method, and transfers the modulated frames to a transmitter(130). The transmitter transmits the received COFDM signals through a terrestrial DMB-dedicated network.
